Been arsing around with CSS... Cute.

Settling in here at Bangor, had three sunny days on the trot so all is good. Ph.D is going slowly. Spent several weeks putting labs together which was hard work (carrying around titanic marble slabs... not good) but getting in at 10am and leaving at 3pm is ace! But then it all went wrong, the fume cupboards we need to use (just cupboards with an extractor fan, for working with toxic/volatile chemicals) weren't working. Some bird has built it's nest in the vent. So... two weeks of reading papers and sitting around later, they manage to get it out. Not so good.

Still not made it into the darkroom yet though, which sucks. Apparently the photography society here is "dormant" due to lack of interest. Permanent darkroom set up in the union basement, what a waste.. Fortunately, I've got all the bits I need to make cyanotypes now. No darkroom required (just big-ass negs). Looking out for a cheap 4x5, but going to try printing inkjet transparencies as well... Hopefully it'll work.

F e a t u r e

Just started developing a roll of Ilford Pan F+ in Rodinal and, being a complete dumb fuck, accidentally diluted 1:200 instead of the 1:50 I was aiming for. So, going to use the 2 sodding hours I'm going to have to leave it for to do something on here... Anyway, that last dumb journal has been up for ever. Time for an update!

I finally finished work on friday. Work doesn't agree with me, really can't hack the daily drudge (especially when it's up at 6am every day and back after 7pm). Feeling drained all the time isn't good. Next stop is North Wales for my Ph.D. Start in March, still haven't sorted where I'm going to live yet... meh.

Photography has taken a back seat recently, not feeling particularly motivated. Haven't taken much new stuff in ages, got a bit of a back log from a while ago though, might post something one of these days... stranger things have happened.

Saw Born into Brothels the other day, amazing film, highly reccommended. Interesting, uplifting and some of the photos are genuinely amazing.

Turned my bedroom into a darkroom. Sort of. Cardboard over the windows, enlarger on the floor in a corner, 'wet bench' in the shower:



As a set up, it's bit shit really, but it's fun to be printing again.
